Pep Rally Held For "Extreme Makover: Home Edition Volunteers

Lexington, NC -- Next week, a Triad family's life will change forever when they find out they've been chosen to have their home re-built from scratch by a national tv show.

While the name of the family isn't being disclosed, the community is already rallying around the family. Representatives from "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" and the local builder held a pep rally to give volunteers and contractors general information on the project.

The show's Executive Producer Conrad Ricketts says the build will effect more people than just the family getting a home. "Everybody's gonna come to it thinking they're gonna change the family's life and change their own life in the process. Everybody says its impossible, you cant build a quality house in a week, its impossible. And thousands of people who don't know each other, never met the family, are gonna come together and make the impossible happen and realize in that moment, if I can make the impossible happen for someone I don't know, I can make the impossible happen for myself."

Jason Hedrick, Owner of Lexington Builder Hedrick Creative Construction, is heading up the project locally. He says the list of volunteers is already full, but you can still help out. They still need certain building materials, and will need money for incidentals that come up during the build. If you'd like to see what they need and to find out how you can donate, click here.

There will also be a blood drive and a food drive over the course of the build in order to give back to the local community.
