Colfax, NC -- A local woman is satisfying her need for speed on her birthday. She's turning 110 years old!

Friends at River Landing in Colfax threw Gladys Horneys a birthday party Friday.

The 110-year-old celebrated with cake and presents and because she's a big fan of NASCAR racing, her party was decked out with NASCAR balloons and pictures.

But, her biggest surprise was a ride in a new corvette courtesy Parks Chevrolet.

"She seemed so happy," said her niece Mary Ellen Koontz. "I just wonder what she'll say about it when she calms down."

Gladys's family says they're keeping her healthy so she can live to be 150.
