'Giving Tree' Collects Food For Second Harvest Food Bank
Winston-Salem, NC -- Your donations can help feed the hungry in the Piedmont this holiday season. Workers spent Friday putting up the 12-foot 'Giving Tree' at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem. The tree, made entirely of canned food, is part of the Friends Feeding Friends food drive. Lowes Foods is collecting donations at stores across the state. They hope to get 600,000 pounds of food. "I think over the holidays people really get a tender spirit about them, and I think we'll crush that goal," said Barbara Saulpulgh with Lowes Foods. "I think we're really excited about doing that." The 'Giving Tree' will stay up until Dec. 1 when the food will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. You can donate at boxes set up next to the tree at Hanes Mall or at any Lowes Foods store.
