Guilford County -- Classes are canceled at the GTCC Jamestown campus Saturday to allow thousands of people to receive free H1N1 vaccinations.
The Guilford County Department of Public Health is holding a H1N1 clinic inside the Medlin building from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Pregnant women, college students and children between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old, health care workers and adults 25-64 with underlying health issues are eligible to receive the 6,000 available doses of the vaccine.
"We want to target those that are most impacted by the disease right now," said Steven Ransey with the Guilford County Department of Public Health. "We hope by clinching the disease in those individuals and providing targeted intervention in the form of vaccinations to them that we are protecting the rest of the public."
As more H1N1 vaccine becomes available in the coming weeks, Ransey says additional clinics will likely be held for the general public.
If you plan to attend today's clinic, bring a form of identification and your insurance or Medicaid card if you have coverage. There is no charge for the vaccine.
No one will be allowed on the GTCC campus prior to 8 a.m. for the H1N1 clinic. Vehicles will only be able to access the campus through the Vickery Chapel Road entrance.
